Findin the Good in the Bad

this week was a tough one, no one wanted to hear our message (which is strange for brazilians, they love talking about God and religion) right down to the people we tried to make contacts with. but we did have a funny experience during all this.

one of the young women was doing visits with us and she asked ``how do you guys start teaching a new investigator?`` and sister fernandes just goes ``whats a name you like??`` so the young woman says ``mmm... andressia`` and then sister fernandes goes up to a random house and starts clapping and a lady comes out and sister fernandes goes ``is andressia here??`` and the lady got super confused and sister fernandes said ``she gave us this address... weird. But good afternoon!! were missionaries from the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints... etc`` needless to say this lady wasnt interested either. BUT later we visited some members that live near by and on the way home we passed the same lady and she goes ``hey! girls!! listen, after you guys left i remembered that theres a girl that lives on that street over there whos name is andressia.`` and she took us right up to the door and we just said ``awe yeah its probably here!! we´ll come back another day`` hahahaha it was pretty funny.

And then we had zone conference and i got 2 packages and a bunch of christmas cards!!! (half a year late.. hahaha) ah man it made me so happy!!

also i read a talk that i love a lot! its called ``This Day`` by elder Eyring and one part i like a lot is he says ``Hard as things seem today, they will be better in the next day if you choose to serve the Lord this day with your whole heart. Your circumstances may not be improved in all the ways which you desire. But you will have been given new strength to carry your burdens and new confidence that when your burdens become too heavy, the Lord, whom you have served, will carry what you cannot. He knows how. He prepared long ago.``

Looking back on this week, i know thats true. This week was terrible but we were trying our hardest to serve the Lord and He helped us find the best in every situation.

Im so greatful for this Gospel and for the joy and comfort it brings during difficult times.

thanks for all your support and prayers! LOVE YOU ALL!!

TRANSFERS!

NEW COMPANION!! my new comp is sister fernandes and shes super tiny, super cute, and SO hilarious!

and all she eats for breakfast is chocolate.

but anyway, this week was great!! and cold!! the winter months are june and july so its really been cooling down (like mid 70´s haha) and raining a lot!! yesterday we were eating lunch with some members and then it started DOWNPOURING and we walked to our next appointment and sat down on the wood bench and taught a lesson and then we stood up and yeah... on the bench were two wet bum marks.. hahah it was super embarrassing!!

BUT also this week we deep cleaned our house and then that night i went to make some toast and pulled oout the toaster thing and there was about 8 baby cockroaches that went running! becasue when we deep cleaned the house we destroyed their homes. but oh i about i burned the house down!!

also my first district leader, Elder William, always told me ``DO A FLIP!!`` everytime he saw me, and then he got transfered up north and today i got a phone call that went like this:

me: hello?
person: hi! whos speaking?
me: sister lloyd
person: hi sister lloyd! how are you? i have something to ask of you.
me: im good! and what?
person: DO A FLIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
me: HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!
person: IM BACK IN CAMPO GRANDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hahahahaha it was super funny.

 John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

BAPTISM!!!

ANDERSON WAS BAPTIZED!!!!!!!!!!! ah it was so good!! his baptism was marked for 5 o´clock but at the church we had a lunch for mothers day and everyone was there and bishop welcomed everyone and then said ``and dont forget!! anderson will be baptized right after at 2 o´clock!!`` and we all just looked at each other super confused. haha but everything worked out and the baptism was at 2. haha. but seriously. theres NO better feeling than how strong the spirit is when the person being baptized comes out of the water. it seriously makes all the heat, sweat, sore feet, flying cockroaches, rejections, and dengue worth it. :)

also this week, before andersons baptism we were reviewing everything and answering all of his questions and concerns and then all of a sudden this man that was working in the little conduminium where he lives was like ``um excuse me... could you come here for a moment... theres a man sleeping on the floor of this house.`` so anderson went there and woke up the man and he was drunk out of his mind but we just continued teaching and then the drunk guy wonders over to us and sits down and starts repeating everything sister camargo was saying. hahaha she was saying things like ``anderson. God loves you. hes gonna help you.`` ``YEAH DUDE!! Gods gonna help you, man!`` ``were praying for you anderson.`` ``DUDE! theyre praying for you!! youve got nothing to worry about! THEYRE PRAYING FOR YOU MAN!!!!`` hahahaha it was pretty funny.

also this week we were teaching a lesson and we were sitting under a tree and there were birds eating the fruit of the tree and the birds kept spitting the food out and it would land on us, then in the middle of the lesson, you know, the part when its SUPER spiritual, all of a sudden something hits us and sister camargo goes ``ah, this time it was poo.`` yeah. we got pooped on IN THE MIDDLE OF A LESSON!! hahaha it was terrible.

ALSO i talked with my family!! ah it was so good!!! :) i love them. and i talked with my brother in portuguese a little and everyone is happy and healthy!!!

tchau!!

This week was awesome, as always :)

We taught Anderson and Giselle about the Word of Wisdom and the Law of
Chastity... which they BOTH have problems with BOTH of these
commandments.. ahha and it kinda freaking Giselle out so FOR NOW she
won't be baptized Saturday but in the future, for sure :)

So this week. Saturday was rough. every. single. one of our
appointments fell through. So it was about 6:00 and we had nothing to
do. So we pulled out the list of less actives and started trying to
contact the ones in our neighborhood but my goodness Saturday night is
the time for everyone to be ``taking a shower`` so needless to say, we
just took a good walk around the neighborhood for 3 hours.

BUT.... D&C 121:7 ``My (daughter), peace be unto thy soul; thine
adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;``

SO, Sunday after church a herd of young women came up and said they
wanted to visit another young woman in the ward that hasn't been
coming to church so they asked what day we could go, so I opened up my
little planner to see and WE HAD ALREADY PLANNED TO GO THERE ON
SUNDAY!! haha so I said ``oh! today!!`` so at 5 us and our little herd
of young women walked forever to her house and it was the most
spiritual lesson ever! we talked about the talk ``stay in the boat``
and then had a mini testimony meeting.

THEN we went to visit with Anderson and Giselle but Giselle wasn't
home. so we talked to Anderson about all of his questions and
everything and he was saying how much he wants to change and how much
he loves going to church and hearing our messages but then he started
talking about how every time he goes to pray he can't because he's
scared to talk to God and that even with us, sometimes he´s scared to
ask us questions

I remembered the story about my great grandpas baptism, the day of his
baptism he was too scared to enter the water and wasn't baptized, then
the missionaries were transferred and new ones came to his area and
remarked his baptism, but again he was too scared to enter the water,
so one of the elders walked up to him and commanded Satan to leave and
after that my great grandpa entered the water no problem.

so I shared the story with him and the scripture 2 timothy 1:7 ``For
God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love,
and of a sound mind.`` and we talked about how during church and our
messages he´s felt peace and love and that the feeling of fear to pray
and to ask questions are from the devil because the devil is trying to
stop him from making this change in his life. IT WAS THE BEST LESSON
EVER!!!!

Ah. I love being a missionary.

Thanks for all of your love and support!!
